She’s not quite sure why, of all books, this one survived: Knits for Kits — Fun and Functional Projects For Your Feline Friend.
To be frank, she’s not entirely certain how the book was even published, but she is in no position to question the choices of some long-dead editor. The book exists, it is here, and she might as well make something from it — especially given the limits imposed on her by the available yarn.
Acrylic is well and good for a dishcloth or a bag, but it doesn’t stand up to cold the way wool does. She can’t use it for socks or gloves and, even if she had enough for a sweater or a scarf, it wouldn’t be warm enough
She opens the book. Time to get to work.

Libuse pads across Tanya’s quarters, tiny knit crown tied securely in place. She butts up against Lizzie, offering an affectionate low rumble of a purr.
Nahy sits clamped between Lizzie’s legs, hissing and attempting to bite his way out.
“Oh, come on, Nahy,” She complains. “Wearing it once won’t kill you. Tanya’s always saying you belong in baby jail, and there’s no way I was making you a sweater after last time. Sectoid fingers do not belong in my shoe.”
Nahy lets out a growl as she secures the baby bonnet under his chin and takes the opportunity to make his displeasure known by taking a bite of her hand.
“Yes, I know. That one I deserved,” she groans, letting the cat free. “But now everyone will know exactly where you belong.
